Energy from Oil/Gas and Photovoltaics
Challenging Oil and Gas Environments
High
performance seals, like Viton® fluoroelastomers and Kalrez®
perfluoroelastomer parts, help extend meantime between repair in
aggressive downhole applications.
Viton® has been used in the oil and gas exploration, production,
refining and upgrading industries for over 30 years to solve critical
sealing problems where elastomers such as nitrile or EPDM fail to
provide adequate sealing performance.
Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer parts withstand attack from more then
1,800 chemicals ,solvents and plasmas, and withstand temperatures up to
327°C (620°F).
They offer excellent explosive decompression resistance, extrusion
resistance in high-pressure applications and excellent chemical
resistance to drilling muds, sour gas, amines, cesium-potassium formates
and high pH fluids.
Improve Productivity in Photovoltaic Cell Manufacturing Processes
As the demand for photovoltaic (PV) systems continue to rise, manufacturers must find ways to increase uptime and improve output. Unplanned maintenance due to incompatible sealing materials can cause downtime and interfere with production schedules.
Selecting the appropriate sealing material can help improve
performance and lower cost of ownership in both bulk crystalline silicon
and thin film photovoltaic processes that use aggressive "wet"
chemistries, high temperatures or reactive plasma/gas. Kalrez® parts
retain their elastomeric properties at temperatures as high as 325°C,
and resist over 1800 chemicals including alkalis, acids, solvents, O2
and fluorine-based plasma.
The brand names Kalrez®, Viton®, Zalak® and Vamac® are all registered trademarks of DuPont Performance Polymers.
